About Us Daisybrook Farm was established in 2004. Daisybrook Farm is owned and run by Murray and Catherine Brooker. The farm's 100 acres is surrounded by National Park and State forest. A permanent stream runs through the property and flows into the Denmark river and eventually the Wilson Inlet. The first section of the herb garden was created in a an old pasture paddock that sloped gently down to the stream. The soil varied greatly from white sand over gravel down to heavy clay, there was very little evidence of worm activity and the clay areas became quite water logged in winter. Rows were chosen over other types of garden layout due to ease of management, the slight slope of the land and water runoff movement over the sight,
The farm is managed using
biodynamic farming principles. We run a breeding flock of
Wiltshire Horn sheep
for the organic meat market. Lambs are ready for market around July. Each year
we cut and bale meadow hay for sale to the many discerning horse owners in the
district. The establishment of the herb and native bush food gardens has been
an enormous challenge with many rewards. we are looking forward to the new
growth in our native bush food garden over the winter months.
Many of our products are made by family members or local people. We have been really lucky to have lovely products made by these talented people. The farm had previously been part of a huge parcel of land previously farmed for potatoes. We have a large area of natural forest jutting into our property and the creek line is left in its natural state which creates a habitat for many native animals. We are members of "Land for Wildlife" and we have deliberately left an unfenced section in our forest to allow native animals such as emus a way in and out of our land without a fence blocking them from entering. We often see a father Emu with chicks following him!
