Wiltshire Horn Sheep

Wiltshire Horn Sheep are one of the easiest breeds to manage. Being self shedding there is very little danger of fly strike, they are a hardy breed and are naturally resistant to most intestinal worms and other parasites. This makes the breed ideal for organic and biodynamic growers. The breed is believed to have been bought to the United Kingdom by the Romans and were left to manage themselves in the highlands and this is where there hardiness developed.

The ewes make excellent mothers and we have had numerous triplets. Lambs are typically born smaller than most other breeds but in no time they out grow any rivals, some eating grass after just a few days. They are non selective eaters and will graze a paddock evenly and can be used to clean up a rough parcel of pasture.

Wether lambs are sold when they reach 40kgs and tend to dress out at between 20 and 25kgs making them ideal for the prime lamb market.

Each year I sell Prime Lamb Rams for people to breed from and any older ewes that are surplus to my own requirements. Please e-mail if you are interested to find out more.
